Women of Excellence Congratulates Another Dynamic Student - Chijindu Okoronkwo

John Newbern’s Law states; that people can be divided into three groups: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.  Chiji Okoronkwo falls in the category of those people who make things happen.  On behalf of the Women of Excellence and the Model United Nations Program would like to recognize and send our best wishes to Chijindu (Chiji) Okoronkwo for all of her contributions to the MCC family.

Chiji, received the highest honor in student leadership awards last week, by receiving the Chancellor’s Award in Albany, New York.  This award acknowledges students for outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service or the arts.

Chiji is an International student from Nigeria.  She has two children (age 20 and 15). As a student, she demonstrates a love of learning, commitment, and leadership that is necessary to succeed in college and beyond.  Her major is in Health Studies (HS03)and she works part-time in the library.  She is very active in the “Women of Excellence Initiative” and is an active member in Phi-Theta-Kappa Honors in Action Project.

Chiji is a perceptive, sharp, quick individual with a high aptitude in the areas of critical thinking, problem solving and is driven to understand how things work and how people think.  Chiji is the perfect person to get a group project rolling, but she also knows how to sit back and let others take the lead.  Her cheerful nature and openness to feedback means she’s always learning and growing as a learner, an impressive strength that will continue to serve her well in throughout her life.

If you see Chiji, please give her a big thank-you for being the person she is.  MCC is better because of students like her.
