Athletics: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workshop a Success

On November 18th, over 150 MCC Student-Athletes attended multiple Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops hosted by Dr. Calvin Gantt. Two sessions were conducted as a training series as the Athletic Department works towards strategic goals to serve student-athletes holistically. Dr. Gantt led several small group activities that discussed and applied learning experiences with microaggression and inexplicit bias. Open dialogue between students from different teams enabled a rich session for all involved.

Athletics Department will continue serving Student-Athletes holistically and will plan multiple events and workshops in the Spring Semester. There will be a specific focus on Title IX as we celebrate over 50 years. One of them will have a keynote speaker with a panel discussion on the student-athlete experience.

The Athletics Department would like to thank the following people for making the DEI Workshop a considerable success: Dr. Calvin Gantt, Pam Rende, Tom Winslow, Kaci Chiappone, and the Coaches and Student-Athletes made this event a huge success.
