Workshop Today: The Capstone Experience
The HIPs Committee invites all faculty who steward any academic program to join us today for:
- The Capstone Experience: What? Why? How?
- Monday, April 21
- 12 PM
- in the TCC (room 12-201) or Join via Zoom.
Here's a basic description of this newest High-Impact Practice (HIP) at MCC:
A course designated as a Capstone Experience functions as a culmination for students in a particular program. In such a course, whether as a single component or as a guiding pedagogy, students will complete at least one individual and/or collaborative project that integrates and applies what they’ve already achieved in earlier coursework, bringing coherence to their experiences at MCC and laying groundwork for future engagement with a particular field. As such, any course designated as a Capstone Experience (CE) will offer students the opportunity to synthesize in some way the totality of their academic experiences in a specific discipline at MCC. The goal is for students to understand themselves more deeply in relation to that discipline and to the next stages of their academic and/or professional lives.
If you can't make today's workshop but still would like to learn more about the Capstone Experience, please email Maria Brandt (mbrandt@monroecc.edu).
