2024 State-Wide TYESA-MCC Unmanned Ground and Aerial Vehicle (UAV+UGV) competition

The Engineering Science and Physics department is hosting an annual state-wide TYESA-MCC Unmanned Ground and Aerial Vehicle (UAV+UGV) competition on Friday, April 26, 2024, at MCC PAC field house. There will be six other institutions participating in this event.

Teams of sophomore and freshman students have to design, build, and pilot an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to transport a small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) through obstacle gates. The UAV must be able to maneuver around and through obstacles, change altitude, carry/deposit the UGV to the proper drop zone, and then navigate back to the starting zone. The UGV must be capable of detaching from the UAV using an autonomous onboard detachment mechanism and autonomously drive to a different location after delivery. This project is designed to simulate a rescue mission where human navigation is dangerous and aerial navigation is partially difficult.

Please come and support our MCC engineering students' ingenuity and enthusiasm.

The TYESA MCC UAV/UGV competition on April 26, 9:00am to 2:00pm schedule is as follows:

  • 9:00am to 10:00am: Team Check-In and Set Up
  • 10:00am to 11:00am: Poster Session
  • 11:00am to Noon: Lunch/test run
  • Noon to 1:30pm: UAV/UGV competition
  • 1:30pm to 2:00pm: Awards ceremony
