Song Grams with Student Music Association

Wednesday, April 29th, 11am to 1:45pm across the Brighton Campus
Order a song for a friend to surprise them with an uplifting and encouraging song in the gram setlist. Songs will be Brave by Sara Bareilles and You’ve Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman. It will be $15 per request, which goes right back to Student Music Association and helps with future programming. Email Chase Leaonard (cleonard13@monroecc.edu) for submissions of requests.

Scholars' Day at MCC is a multi-day event that showcases the work of student researchers and faculty. Scholars' Day celebrates academic excellence while promoting and encouraging scholarships among MCC students, faculty, and staff. Scholars' Day features a conference of undergraduate and faculty presentations, a Celebration of Learning, and a keynote address.

Amy Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, independent, award-winning daily news program airing on over 1,500 public television and radio stations worldwide, with millions of subscribers across all major social media platforms. Goodman has been honored with a wide range of awards, including the I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence Lifetime Achievement Award and the Right Livelihood Award for “developing an innovative model of truly independent grassroots political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by the mainstream media.” Goodman has co-authored six New York Times bestsellers. Her latest, Democracy Now!: Twenty Years Covering the Movements Changing America, covers the first two decades of Democracy Now! and the powerful movements and charismatic leaders shaping our world. This work is also the subject of a feature-length documentary film, currently showing in festivals and opening in theaters across the US this spring.
Celebration of Learning

The Celebration of Learning extends the excitement of Scholars’ Day to every MCC student. This science-fair-style showcase invites students to share their work in a supportive, welcoming environment, whether it’s a class project, creative work, or research. Projects can be presented in many formats, including posters, presentations, artwork, essays, and more, giving the MCC community a chance to explore the learning happening across campus. Amy Goodman will be signing her books at the Celebration of Learning from 2pm to 3pm.

Join Campus Activities Board to welcome comedian Alex Babbitt! Breakfast included! Alex can be seen showcasing his comedic prowess on platforms like HBO’s “All Def Comedy”, B.E.T.’s “Off the Ropes”, and his weekly web series “Behind the Mic Stand”. Mr. Babbitt continues to grow his fanbase, affectionately known as “The Misfits”, and has gained over 50,000 followers on Tiktok. “Comedy, acting, and entertaining as a whole; gives me the freedom I want to “define” myself; not by what people want me to be but by who I want to be”. – A.Babbitt

- Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Award: Two students, Connor Klute and Liudmyla Buryk, will be awarded the PTK All-New York Award in Albany on Monday, April 27th.
- Student Government Association SUNY Chancellor's Award: Five MCC Students will travel to Albany Capital Center on Monday, April 27 to receive the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence acknowledges students for outstanding achievements that have demonstrated the integration of SUNY excellence into many different aspects of their lives, including academics, leadership, diversity, equity, inclusion, & justice, campus involvement, civics & service, research & development, or creative and performing arts. It is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the University. Please help us congratulate the following students: Jalisia Burno, Margherita Rizzuti, Parker Werven, Abigail Pottinger, and Cricket DeRue.
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Community Service Project for The Surgical Technology Club: The Surgical Technology Club are looking for donations to fill lunch bags for the Open Door Mission. Donations such as peanut butter, jelly (grape and strawberry), individual or family pack chips, snacks (hostess/mini muffins/fruit snacks/granola bars) and juice boxes will be accepted until 4/29. Donation Box Located on Brighton Campus, Building 3, Room 126 & Building 9, Room 124.
- Local Vendor: On Thursday, 4/30, enjoy a local vendor who will have bath bombs and other self-care items. They will be supporting MCC’s Global Union.
- Focaccia for MCC Travel Club: Support MCC’s Travel Club by purchasing a loaf of their delicious rosemary-parmesan focaccia for $8. They are collecting orders from April 13th until May 5th and orders will be ready for pick up on Thursday, May 7th.
