Pr. Lamar Presents "Public Service Announcement"
The Bronze Collective Theatre Festival hosts an annual celebration that highlights the voice and talent of local performers and theater groups within the Black community and African Diaspora. Performances include drama, dance, storytelling, comedy, and music from local artists and playwrights, and will occur nightly from 7PM to 9PM the week of Wednesday February 18th to Sunday February 22nd at the MUCCC Theatre (142 Atlantic Avenue).
Pr. Lamar will appear as Nat Turner in a play called "There's A Man Goin Round Taking Names" Friday and perform a one man show titled "Public Service Announcement" on Saturday. You can read the synopsis here:
"A riveting one-man show that traces the journey of a Black scholar navigating his career and the fall of a global empire. Blending raw monologue, electrifying spoken word, and original music (including anthems like ‘Do A Lot,’ ‘CAPITAL,’ and ‘Disparity’), this autoethnographic tour de force lays bare the intersections of systemic racism, mental health, and the illusion of criminal ‘justice.’ With unflinching honesty, Lamar the Therapist (under Reuben J. Tapp’s visionary direction) transforms personal narrative into collective reckoning, proving that art is not just protest—it is public service."
General admission $20, students and seniors $15, $49.98 for the week.
