TCC: Adjunct Supper for Success: Exploring Civic Discourse in the Classroom

The Teaching and Creativity Center sends heartfelt thanks to our adjunct faculty who joined us for the kickoff event. Please join the Teaching and Creativity Center for the September session of our Adjunct Supper for Success series! We’re excited to welcome Joseph Scanlon, Associate Professor of Political Science and Faculty Fellow in Civic Discourse, as our featured presenter. 

Beginning in Fall 2026, SUNY will require incoming students to complete a new civic discourse core competency before graduation. In this session, attendees will: 

  • Learn what constitutes civic discourse within the context of the new core requirement 
  • Explore the importance of civic discourse in higher education 
  • Discuss practical strategies for introducing civic discourse in the classroom 

Date: Monday, September 22, 2025 
Time: 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
