Middle States Moment: What Are the 7 Standards of Accreditation?

MCC is one of the first colleges to be reviewed under the new 14th Edition of the Middle States Standards, launched in 2023. One major update? Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is now embedded across all 7 standards, making inclusion a central part of how we define excellence. Here’s a quick snapshot of the 7 standards guiding our Self-Study:

  1. Mission & Goals – Are we living our mission and meeting community needs?
  2. Ethics & Integrity – Are we acting with fairness, honesty, and transparency?
  3. Design & Delivery of the Student Learning Experience – Are our programs designed to foster meaningful learning?
  4. Support of the Student Experience – Are we meeting students’ academic and personal needs?
  5. Educational Effectiveness Assessment – How do we know learning is happening, and how do we improve it?
  6. Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement–  Are our resources aligned with our priorities?
  7. Governance, Leadership, and Administration – Do our leadership structures support student and institutional success?

Stay tuned for a closer look at the MCC working groups leading the charge on each of the seven standards in our next Middle States Moment!
