Dr. Alexis Vogt Earns Northeast Regional Faculty Award
It is my great honor to announce that the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has chosen Dr. Alexis Vogt for its 2026 Northeast Regional Faculty Award. The award is given annually to a full-time instructor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and advocacy for two-year post-secondary education. Dr. Vogt will be formally recognized at the ACCT Awards Gala in Chicago in October.
Currently serving as the Barbara and John H. Bruning Optical Systems Technology Endowed Director of MCC’s Optical Systems Technology (OST) program, Dr. Vogt began her tenure at Monroe Community College (MCC) 11 years ago. She earned her PhD in Optics from the University of Rochester and worked for 9 years in the business sector at Bausch + Lomb and IDEX/Melles Griot. Since joining MCC, Dr. Vogt’s work has led to more than $13 million in grants and awards for MCC’s OST program and more than 2,000% growth in student enrollment.
In addition to her service to MCC, Dr. Vogt serves on the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) Board of Directors and the American Precision Optics Manufacturers Association (APOMA) Board of Directors, and is the current Executive Director of New York Photonics.
We are so proud of Dr. Vogt and all of her well-deserved accomplishments. Her passion for higher education, particularly in the field of optics, has transformed lives and our community. Way to go, Alexis!
