Reaccreditation Visit Update: A Moment to Appreciate Our Collective Work
We are pleased to share that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) peer evaluation team completed its reaccreditation visit to MCC, and the team shared highlights from its preliminary report with the College yesterday. This milestone represents the culmination of years of preparation, reflection, and collaboration across the institution, and it is a moment worthy of pride and appreciation. I would like to acknowledge and express my gratitude to our Co-Chairs, Dr. Natasha Chen, Dr. William Dixon, and our Accreditation Liaison Officer, Dr. Terrance Keys, for all of their effort.
During his report, Chair Dr. Bernard Polnariev shared that in the team’s judgment MCC appears to have met all of the standards. This statement reflects the evaluation team’s assessment of the College’s alignment with Middle States standards and affirms the strength of our shared efforts.
The College will prepare and submit its formal response to the peer evaluation team’s report by the deadline set by MSCHE. It's important to understand that reaccreditation involves a multi-stage review process. Over the coming months, additional review steps will continue with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. A final decision regarding MCC’s reaccreditation status will be announced by MSCHE later this summer.
Feedback from the peer evaluation team serves as an essential resource as we continue refining our work. Their observations and recommendations will guide ongoing assessment and improvement efforts, especially as we move into our next strategic planning cycle and develop related integrated plans, such as academic planning, DEISJ, enrollment management, facilities, technology, and student success initiatives.
The evaluation team also highlighted several impactful initiatives currently underway at MCC, including our efforts in redesigning our academic program review process, holistic student support, the work of the IDEA Council, and the positive impact the Downtown Campus is having on our students and the wider community.
This moment reflects what we are accomplishing Together as One. Sincere thanks to the faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni, and trustees whose dedication, expertise, and engagement made this visit a success. We should all be proud of how our collective commitment continues to move MCC forward.
