New Process Document Available!
The Full Time Faculty Retirement to Adjunct Process Overview Document is now available under the Human Resources tile:
Employee Home > Human Resources > Online Forms and Documents > Faculty Retiree to Adjunct Process
This process is intended for any Full-time faculty member who is intending to retire and interested in returning to teach in an adjunct capacity.
Key highlights of process:
- Full‑time faculty who retire from the College may be eligible to return as adjunct faculty, subject to retirement system rules, departmental need, and Human Resources approval.
- Faculty should notify Human Resources of their retirement as early as possible. If teaching as an adjunct immediately after retirement is anticipated, the department must provide advance notice to HR to allow sufficient time for processing.
- A required gap in service may apply depending on the individual’s New York State retirement system. Faculty are responsible for confirming any required break with their retirement system and HR.
- Returning retirees must complete all required adjunct onboarding steps and receive HR clearance before beginning work. Adjunct teaching assignments are not guaranteed and cannot begin until all approvals are finalized.
