Statewide Mathematics Contest

Please share with students:

If you are enrolled at MCC this semester either full-time or part-time, have completed MTH 165 or higher, and have not earned a two-year college degree or higher, please consider representing MCC in this year's statewide contest for two-year college students.  It is an opportunity for personal and school recognition.  Prizes are awarded for top scorers in the state.  Participation in this statewide contest also improves your chance of being awarded a NYSMATYC (New York State Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges) scholarship.

Questions are a mix of multiple choice and open-ended, and can be solved using mathematics at the pre-calculus level. It’s fun and only takes an hour of your time!  Again, students who take the NYSMATYC contest are given extra consideration when applying for NYSMATYC scholarships.

To participate, go to room 8-100 on Monday, March 23 at 11:55 a.m. – 12:55 p.m.

For a sneak preview of what to expect, some previous math contests and their solutions are available for your review in the wall bin outside of Kim Martello’s office at room 8-302.  These are also available by request through email sent to Kim Martello (kmartello@monroecc.edu).

Note: Calculators are not allowed on the NYSMATYC exam.
