We Want to Know! A Message from Your Community Relations Team

As the new academic year begins, we wanted to introduce (or reintroduce) ourselves and provide a brief overview of our responsibilities. We are the community relations team, and if you see internal or external promotion of programs, faculty, staff, or students, we are usually behind it!

Community Relations comprises three team members: Veronica Chiesi Brown, Assistant Director (Acting Director); Courtney Weimar, Specialist; and Sharon Rappenecker, Secretary. We bring decades of combined experience in communication, writing, community relations, public relations, and media relations. We love to share the good work the college is doing and the accomplishments of our MCC community.

Among the things we are looking to know about include, but are not limited to:

Awards and accomplishments of students, faculty, staff, and alums.
Student trips – Did you take a group of students somewhere exciting?
Grant funding – Did you receive grant funding? Let us tell people about it!
Research – Are you working on something that could have an impact on higher education?
Profile suggestions – whether it be a student, faculty member, staff member, alum, program, or services.
Extraordinary happenings – if you think it is newsworthy, it most likely is! Don’t be afraid to share it with us.

We realize it may be hard to brag or you might see your job as “just doing your job.” There is no “just.” You deserve for others to know what you are doing. We want to publish stories about your work in the Tribune, President’s Report, social media, and more! Sharing your work and accomplishments helps people inside and outside the community know how remarkable MCC is!
