Statement from Chancellor King and SUNY Board of Trustees on Recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month

“SUNY is proud to observe Hispanic Heritage Month alongside our faculty, staff, and approximately 62,000 Hispanic and Latino students currently working towards a degree at one of our 64 campuses. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, SUNY is honored to acknowledge the contributions that Hispanic and Latino students, faculty, staff, and alumni have made to the SUNY system, to New York State, and to the country.

“This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate SUNY’s diversity, and the excellence our Hispanic American community members contribute to our campuses. Consistent with our statutory mission, SUNY is proud to recognize the diversity of our student body, faculty, staff, and leaders, and we will continue our work to ensure SUNY campuses reflect and celebrate all of the cultures and experiences that our students bring.

“At SUNY, we understand that diversity is our strength, and that learning about different cultures, histories, and perspectives is an essential component of a well-rounded education. We are proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and we will continue our efforts to ensure all SUNY students feel safe and welcomed on all of our campuses.”
