MCC Daily Tribune
Welcome to Accessibility Week!
The Title II Committee is excited to offer a week of workshops and resources to help you prepare for incorporating digital content accessibility into your daily tasks ahead of this month’s Title II deadline. As a reminder, the new Title II Rule under the Americans with Disabilities Act goes into effect on April 24 and requires that all digital content used for the programs, services, and activities of the College comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. This includes all MCC-affiliated websites, mobile apps, social media accounts/posts, web-based systems (myMCC, Banner Self Service, Brightspace, Starfish, Slate, College Now, Campus CE, Hirezon, etc.), 3rd party resources, documents (PDFs, PowerPoints, Word files, etc.), and emails sent to multiple recipients.
We recognize and appreciate the tremendous amount of work that has gone into preparing for the deadline, and we want to give you the tools and resources you need to feel comfortable and confident creating accessible content. All week, we are hosting daily workshops, both in person and via Zoom, and will be posting daily how-to articles in the Tribune. We hope that these resources can help ensure Equity in Every Edit.
Please take a moment to watch this welcome video from Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Belonging, on behalf of the President and the Executive Leadership Team.
