Congratulate Courtney Owen as she departs MCC

Dear College Community,

Courtney Owen, Director of Housing and Residence Life, has accepted the position of Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities and Residence Life at Onondaga Community College. Courtney's last day with Monroe Community College will be Friday, September 25, 2026.

We are excited for Courtney as she takes this next step in her professional career. During her three years of service, Courtney has been a dedicated and passionate advocate for our students and has played a key role in advancing the Housing and Residence Life program's success. Under her leadership, housing occupancy has improved, residential programming has expanded, and our students have benefited from her unwavering commitment to creating a vibrant, supportive living and learning environment.

Courtney's professionalism, leadership, and genuine care for students have left a lasting impact on our campus community. We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her continued success in her new role.

To recognize Courtney's service and celebrate her accomplishments, a farewell reception is planned for the coming weeks. Additional details will be shared as they become available.

I am also pleased to report that Matthew Briars has accepted the position of Interim Director of Housing and Residence Life. Matthew is well prepared to lead the department during this transition, having successfully served in the interim role in Spring 2026. His knowledge of the operation, commitment to students, and experience leading the team provide strong continuity for the department.

We will form a search committee shortly and conduct a thorough, timely search to identify the next Director of Housing and Residence Life. I have full confidence in the Housing team and in Matthew's leadership as they continue the excellent work being done on behalf of our students.

Please join me in thanking Courtney for her outstanding service to MCC and wishing her every success in her future endeavors.
