Web Redesign Update: A New Approach to Content
Many of you visited the web launch team's table at All College Day and had the opportunity to learn more about the new website! It was great to have so many colleagues enjoy a sneak preview.
In our first article on 8/25/26, we shared how the new website supports MCC's enrollment goals and streamlined navigation and search. Here’s a closer look at some of the other key changes you will see and the research that informed them.
Content Strategy Guided by Data and Research
As part of the redesign, the project team used web analytics and user behavior data that showed prospective students consistently focus on a handful of key topics:
- Academic programs
- Admissions information
- Financial aid
- Costs and affordability
- Student support services
These insights helped guide the content review process. Over the years, thousands of pages of content were added to the website, and much of it is no longer timely or relevant to our prospects. Streamlining content and removing duplicate and outdated information will make it easier for prospective students to find what matters most.
Organized Around Academic Programs
The new website places academic programs front and center, providing concise, relevant information while highlighting the unique opportunities, experiences, and outcomes that make each program distinctive. Members of the web launch team met with faculty, staff, and students to help create program content. Program pages were also expanded to feature related programs and areas of interest, helping students discover additional academic options as they explore potential career paths.
Changes to Department Pages
A significant change to the new website is the removal of academic department pages. While academic departments are vital to the College, prospective students use the web to search for programs, areas of study, and career pathways. Many modern higher ed websites have moved away from department-based structures on their websites. Each program page will list the department name.
Faculty and Staff Directory Enhancements
Employees will soon be able to link their directory listing to their LinkedIn profile, making it easier for prospective students, alumni, community partners, and professional colleagues to learn more about their expertise and connect with them professionally.
Easier Access to Student Services
In addition to changes to academic content, several high-traffic areas have been extensively updated to help students quickly find information and navigate processes more easily:
- Admissions
- Financial Aid
- Student Success and Advising Services
- Records and Registration
Updating the Web: Tech Requests and Web Liaisons
Employees who request updates or revisions to website content will continue to submit Tech Request forms, just as we do today.
Soon, we will transition from web liaisons to a new approach that utilizes subject matter experts within each area of the College.
More details will come at launch.
