MCC Proud: Meet Rickia Williams

General Cleaner Rickia Williams has been a dedicated employee at Monroe Community College (MCC) for 18 years, playing an essential role in maintaining a clean, healthy, and welcoming campus environment.

Williams attended East High School and the Family Learning Center, where she earned her GED. She began her career as a cleaner after a friend informed her about an opening with the cleaning company she worked for. Rickia applied for the position and quickly discovered that she loved the work.

One of her most memorable moments at MCC occurred while she was working in the residence halls, when students surprised her by decorating her closet door for her birthday. “It was so cool,” she said.

When asked what advice she would offer to current or prospective MCC students, Williams said, “…get organized early, go to class - even if you don’t feel like it. Talk to your professors, use campus resources, and practice time management.”

  • Rickia: Give more than you take.

  • Rickia: On the weekend, I like to spend time with my grandson.
