Travels with Tiberius
Tiberius hit the road again, and this trip was one for the record books! We talked to Angelo Romero, Student Government President and Model UN Delegate, and Tiberius about their trip to New York City for the Model United Nations Conference earlier this month.
Angelo
Veronica: Tell us about the Model UN Conference.
Angelo: At the conference schools across the world come together and represent countries in different committees of the United Nations. Each group has to find solutions to problems through diplomacy with other students at the conference. Our group represented the country of Estonia.
Veronica: Who was in the MCC class of 2025 group at the conference?
Angelo: 14 Students and three professors attended this trip including myself and other delegates, Shawn Sanchez, Xavier Moreira, Esma Demir, Ellie Wart, William Kelderhouse, Joshua Homer, Savni Gupta, Shuanglin Huang, Emily Carter, Caelyn Frantzen, Amy Kawczynski, and Fatima Rezaee, head Delegate JJ Morganno, Professor Shirley Batista, Provost Joseph Scanlon, and Louis Silvers.
Veronica: What was your favorite part?
Angelo: My favorite part was getting to know my fellow delegates better, and everyone in the group became closer to each other. Everyone got along and showed support for each other. Anytime one of us had to give a speech in our committee, we all showed up to hear them and provide support. It showed how we all supported one another and cared for each other.
Veronica: Would you recommend the trip to others?
Angelo: I always recommend students sign up for Model United Nations and participate. You learn more about the UN, learn new skills such as research, public speaking, and working with others, and meet others who you can call great friends.
Tiberius
Veronica: How was the trip for you?
Tiberius: Well, it was long. I have to say the Thruway is boring so I slept most of the way.
Veronica: But what about the UN?
Tiberius: Oh, that! It was BIG and intimidating, at least at first. Then I got to listen to so many interesting people from all over the world! Can you believe that? And these students? They are so smart. They make me hopeful for the future of the world!
Veronica: Did you get into any mischief while you were there?
Tiberius: No. I did behave. I knew I had to be on my best behavior.
Veronica: Do you want to share anything else?
Tiberius: I have to say, I am still on the lookout for that big apple everyone kept talking about. I never did find it.

Tiberius, the flat 8 ½ by 11 cut out on the left-hand side of the photo along with the text: "Travels with Tiberius." Within the various photo frames, Tiberius is shown in various places with students and attendees at the Model UN Conference in NYC. Among the photos shown are selfies with students holding Tiberius, and Tiberius in front of different signs at the UN building.
