Extending Student Engagement Through Discussions of Transformative Texts

Philosophy professors Amy Burtner, Thomas Blake, and Bob Muhlnickel have been awarded $14,359 from The Great Questions Foundation. This grant, aimed at increasing student engagement through their discussion of transformative texts and ideas, is the second that the team has received. As Faculty Fellows of The Great Questions Foundation, Professors Burtner, Blake, and Muhlnickel spent last year learning about Great Questions inspired pedagogies and applying them to their own teaching in PHL 103: Introduction to Ethics. This year, additional grant funding will expand their work and introduce adjunct faculty and fulltime faculty from other disciplines to The Great Questions pedagogies. The mission of The Great Questions Foundation is to promote the liberal arts and discussion-based learning at community colleges.
