Date Change: Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center Grand Opening
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome back to campus! We are excited to kick off the year with the opening of the Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center. This facility represents a significant investment in student success, workforce development, and the future of advanced technology education in our region.
As preparations continue, I would like to share information about our upcoming celebration and additional opportunities to experience this exciting new space.
Campus Celebration/Faculty & Staff Preview
On August 28, we hosted a special faculty and staff preview of the Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center. The event provided attendees with an opportunity to explore the facility, learn about its programs and capabilities, and celebrate the impact it will have on our students, workforce partners, and community.
I was especially pleased to see such a strong turnout from across the college. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and pride demonstrated by faculty and staff throughout the event reflected the collaborative spirit that makes our institution so special.
For those who were unable to attend, additional opportunities to tour the building will be offered throughout the fall semester. Details will be shared in the Daily Trib. Stay tuned for more information.
Grand Opening Ceremony
An opportunity has emerged to broaden participation among key state and community leaders who helped make the Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center possible. As a result, the Grand Opening has been moved one day earlier to Monday, September 14. After consulting with officials and philanthropic leaders closely involved with the project, we have received enthusiastic support for this change and are grateful to everyone who has stepped up to help accommodate it.
The celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the new facility and special guests representing industry, government and the community.
Please note that Parking Lot J may be affected by event preparations. We will keep you apprised of any minor inconveniences leading up to the event.
Because this is an externally focused celebration and space is limited, attendance at the Grand Opening will be reserved for invited external guests and partners, as well as faculty and staff who are based in or directly affiliated with programs operating within the ATC.
Together As One
We are excited to welcome you back and look forward to the year ahead. The Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center is more than a new building; it is a reflection of our shared commitment to innovation, student success, and community impact. Thank you for the role each of you has played in helping make this milestone possible, and we look forward to celebrating this exciting new chapter together as one.
