TAAC's Chill, Plan, and Write: Mid Semester Planning Event

The Tutoring & Academic Assistance Center (TAAC) will be hosting a Chill, Plan, and Write: Mid Semester Planning event next Wednesday, March 18 & Thursday, March 19, to help students prepare for their upcoming exams and writing assignments. More details can be found below:

 Chill, Plan, and Write

  • Date: Wednesday, March 18 & Thursday, March 19, 2026
  • Location: Brighton Campus, room 11-106 (TAAC)
  • Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm (both days)
  • Snacks and Free Academic Coach and Writing Consultant workbook will be provided to those who participate!
  • Appointments: No appointments are necessary! Walk-ins are encouraged.

What can students expect?

  • Work with an Academic Coach
    • Beat Burnout & Manage Stress: Learn practical techniques to prevent mid-semester fatigue, balance your workload, and maintain your well-being. Develop routines that support productivity without overwhelming yourself.
    • Strengthen Time Management: Reevaluate how you’re spending your time, adjust your schedule if needed, and create a realistic plan for the remainder of the semester.
    • Refresh Your Study Strategies: Explore effective study methods like spaced repetition, active recall, flashcards, study guides, and concept mapping. Discover tools that help you retain information and prepare more efficiently. 
    • Build a Smart Study Plan: Prioritize upcoming exams, projects, and assignments. Break large tasks into manageable steps and develop a clear action plan to stay on track. 
    • Improve Test-Taking Skills: Learn strategies for different exam formats (multiple choice, short answer, essays), reduce test anxiety, and practice techniques that help you perform with confidence. 
  • Work with a Writing Consultant
    • Develop a Strong Thesis: Clarify your main argument and ensure your thesis is specific, focused, and aligned with your assignment.
    • Strengthen Structure & Organization: Learn how to organize your ideas effectively, build strong paragraphs, and create logical transitions between sections.
    • Navigate Research Effectively: Get guidance on integrating sources, citing properly, and strengthening your argument with credible evidence.
    • Master the Writing Process: From brainstorming and outlining to drafting, revising, and editing, gain skills that improve clarity, coherence, and confidence in your academic writing

Whether students attend one day or both sessions, Chill, Plan, and Write provides a supportive space to pause, regroup, and strengthen their strategies, because mid-semester isn’t just about catching up, it’s about moving forward with confidence.
