2026 Student Commencement Speaker Announced
I am pleased to announce that this year’s student commencement speaker is Jalisia Burno. Jalisia serves as the Student Government Association (SGA) President for the 2025–2026 academic year. She began her involvement in SGA as the Athletic Senator during her freshman year, advocating for student-athletes and strengthening campus connections. Building on that experience, Jalisia took a leap of faith and ran for President, and she now serves in that role during her sophomore year.
Throughout her time at Monroe Community College, Jalisia has been deeply committed to the campus and the greater Rochester community. She has led and participated in initiatives such as clothing drives, campus cleanups, voter registration efforts, and civic engagement programs. She has also volunteered with organizations including the Ronald McDonald House and the Special Olympics, reflecting her strong dedication to service.
In recognition of her academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service, Jalisia received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award this year, one of the highest honors bestowed on students across the SUNY system.
