2026 Innovation of the Year Award - Call for Nominations

About the Award
Innovation and excellence are an integral part of MCC, and the Innovation of the Year Award is one of the ways such initiatives are recognized.
MCC’s winning entry for 2025 was “Celebration of Learning” by Alice Wilson, Angelique Johnston, Benjamin Schermerhorn, and Mary Slifer.
Award Criteria
The innovation should meet one or more of the following:
- Quality: Improves quality in courses, programs, offices, or institution.
- Efficiency: Contributes to a more efficient way of doing things.
- Cost Effectiveness: Adds value while reducing or containing costs.
- Replication: Can be replicated at other institutions.
- Creativity: Original or creatively adapted.
- Timeliness: No more than five years old and tested.
- Other: Any other reason the innovation is worthy of recognition.
Eligibility
- All full- and part-time MCC faculty, administrators, professional staff, and support staff members are eligible for the award. When the innovation is a collaborative activity, all members should be nominated as a group. Nominations may be made by any member of the College community after gaining approval of the nominee(s).
How to Submit a Nomination
Prepare the following:
- Description of the initiative, including:
- Category (e.g., workforce preparation, learning and teaching, student services, etc.)
- Objectives, methodology, and outcomes.
- Evidence showing how the innovation meets the criteria (quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness, replication, creativity, timeliness, or other).
Submit your nomination to the nominee’s Vice President by Noon on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
MCC’s 2026 Winner Will Receive:
- Honorary certificate from the League
- Innovation featured on the League’s website
- Invitation to present at the next Innovations Conference
- Recognition at MCC’s Employee Recognition Ceremony
