TCC Gratitude Series Fall 2025: Day 5 (Kudos to MCC's Downtown Faculty and Staff)

It was snowy yesterday and likely today as well. I imagine the Downtown Campus looked absolutely beautiful under the snow. Today, I would like to share kudos to our amazing faculty and professional staff at the Downtown Campus.

From MCC Students to MCC’s Downtown Faculty and Professional Staff

Nicole Meyer, (DC Student Engagement)

  • I am new to the state and MCC. Nicole has been there to help me every step of the way. She has helped me with my government benefits, and she is always happy to see me. Gives the best hugs. I love talking to her. Nicole is not just a faculty member. She’s a friend.
  • Nicole is very easy to talk to. She does everything in her power to help you in any situation with a smile, without judgement. I have personally had my challenges and I asked for her help, and dog my God problem solved.

Michael Martella, (Law and Criminal Justice, DC)

I want to thank you for humoring me with my emails and my strange, out of the blue questions. I know I ask a bunch of weird things, but I have seen a bunch of weird things without answers because I didn't know the law very well. But, it sounds like the law doesn't make a law, unless they know of the law to make. I appreciate you and your teachings! I have learned a bunch of law stuff. Once I do it over and over again in the future, I'm sure what didn't stick will stick then. But quite a lot got stuck in my brain through the semesters.

John Treahy, (Human Services, DC)

Professor Treahy, even with everything you’re carrying in your personal life, you’ve continued to show up for us with strength and grace. Thank you for the wisdom and experience you so openly share. I’m holding you and your family in my prayers and wishing you nothing but the best.

Tryceena M. Gordon, (Human Services, DC)

She is my professor in the downtown campus and pushes me to do great things. She explains things in ways I can understand and has/is helping me to my next steps in my Human Service journey! Thank You

Dina Giovanelli (AHPSS, DC)

  • Professor, thank you so much for your steady support. Your encouragement has meant more than you know. I’m also deeply grateful for your transparency, because it has made a real difference.
  • Professor Dina Giovanelli is authentic and passionate about teaching, and it really shows.  She has been amazing in encouraging us students to be active in the community and makes class interesting and fun. With her kind heart and open-minded teaching style she has piqued my interest in outreach and sociology! I always enjoy coming to her class and learning and having relevant and intriguing discussions with the class! Also, participating in creating an event for our school to help with gifts for the holiday season, and coming together in these economically troubling times, has shown me that supporting each other in the community is something I want to continue to do outside of school.  She has made a real difference in my first semester back. Coming back to school as a single mother who works was not an easy decision to make, but since my first course back was hers the first day, she showed me I had absolutely made the right one. She is one of the reasons I feel great about coming back and made it so much more worth the dive back in!  Thank you for being you!

Eileen Lanzafame, (Math, DC)

She was able to help me with my math that I struggled with, and I really appreciate the help she gave me during our time together.

From TCC to MCC’s Downtown Faculty and Professional Staff

The Education and Human Services Department holds a special place in my heart. I want to make sure I acknowledge everyone who supports the Teaching and Creativity Center. LaToya Manon, Nasim Sarvaiya, Tryceena M. Gordon, Diane Mancini, and Rick Costanza—you are all passionate educators and dedicated practitioners of human services. I truly value our conversations about supporting students and exploring creative teaching practices that promote equity, representation, and accessibility. Your commitment to students’ mental health and wellness—both in the classroom and beyond—makes a real difference. Working with faculty in Education and Human Services is always a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow. Thank you for all you do.

Kimberly Delardge (DC Student Engagement)

Thank you for your leadership, wisdom, and everything you do to support our students, faculty, and professional staff at the Downtown Campus and beyond. Whenever I feel uncertain about how to connect professional staff initiatives at the Downtown Campus, I know exactly where to turn. No matter how busy you are, you always make me feel supported—and that means so much.

Mary Timmons (DC Library Services)

I always say, “If you have a question, start with Mary.” Your wisdom and deep institutional and organizational knowledge are invaluable. I appreciate your guidance on how to approach faculty and professional staff in the context of professional development. Thank you for everything you do!
