Mark Your Calendars for Trans Week of Activism: Documentary Showing, Drag Bingo, Trainings, and Workshops!

Please share with students:

This year, for the first time, MCC's Title IX Office is hosting a week's worth of events for Trans Week of Activism, November 17th to 21st. Below is a list of events! No registration is necessary!

On November 18th, we are hosting a LGBTQ Resource Fair on the Terrace from 11:30 to 1:00pm, where on- and off-campus resources will be present to share information and offer giveaways. This event is open to students, faculty, and staff. No registration is necessary, pop by!

Also on November 18th, we are hosting a showing of the documentary "Paris is Burning" and an accompanying panel discussion with MCC Professor Dr. Jordan Forrest Miller and community organizer Brittan Hardgers. The film begins at 5:30 pm in Building 8, Room 200. This event is open to the entire MCC community! No registration is necessary!

On the 19th, we are hosting an hour Safe Zone training in the Empire Room at 12:00pm. Safe Zone is a program that asks attendees to think critically about the LGBTQ community and how we can make spaces safer for everyone. This is open to the entire MCC community, and no registration is required.

Also on the 19th in the Canal Dorm, we are hosting Drag Queen Bingo with Samantha Vega! From 8:30am to 10:30pm! There will be prizes and great fun! No registration is necessary, but this event is specifically for students.

Finally, on November 20th from 12:00 to 1:30pm in Building 3, Room 115, we are hosting a Trans and Queer Healing Art Space. This will be led by MCC Professor Dr. Jordan Forrest Miller and student DeAndre Vaden. Again, just show up!

If you want to offer extra credit to the Documentary showing, please email Michelle Carroll (mcarroll29@monroecc.edu).
