MCC Proud: Meet Stephanie Pinckney
Stephanie Pinckney is a Counselor in Monroe Community College’s Counseling, Disability & Health Services office. She has worked at MCC for nine years.
As a proud MCC alumna, Pinckney began her academic journey in the Human Services program before earning her master’s in social work from the University at Buffalo. She credits MCC with laying the groundwork for her success, saying, “MCC started the foundation of my education, and it reassured me that I wanted to continue my education in social work.” While Pinckney always knew she wanted to help others, she wasn’t initially certain which career path to pursue. However, she quickly discovered that social work was the perfect fit for her passion and career goals.
For Pinckney, one of the most rewarding aspects of her time at MCC has been witnessing the determination of students as they work toward their goals. “There are so many incredible student memories, but I am consistently reminded of how resilient our students are. Our students are juggling so many things in their lives, but they are still committed to their education. I feel so fortunate to be a part of their academic journey,” she said.
When asked what advice she would give current or prospective MCC students, Pinckney said, “…you are not alone, and people are here to help you!”
While supporting students is a passion, Pinckney also makes time to enjoy life outside the office where she loves spending time with her husband and son, as well as exploring new parks and trails.
