Welcome Back! Important Info About Law Enforcement on Campus

Please share with students:

Hello everyone.

Welcome back! We’re so happy to have you with us again as we begin another wonderful semester together. We truly hope the start of your term is off to a great and inspiring start.

With the recent news coverage about immigration enforcement happening across the country, the Institutional Compliance and Internal Audit office would like to remind everyone about the appropriate steps to take if you notice law enforcement agencies on campus. Please remember these agencies may periodically visit the campus for routine activities, such as participating in college recruiting events, conducting employment or academic reference checks, or assisting with public safety training sessions. These are normal and expected parts of campus life.

Still, we know that seeing law enforcement can sometimes bring up questions or concerns, and that’s completely understandable. If you’re ever unsure about why they’re here, the College has created a simple, easy-to-use guide to help you feel more informed and confident:

Quick Reference Guide for Interacting with Law Enforcement on Campus (PDF)

You can also find this guide, along with the full Protocol for Encounters with Federal Law Enforcement Agencies on the Institutional Compliance webpage whenever you need it.

And of course, if you have any additional related questions, please reach out to the Public Safety Dispatch Center at 585‑292‑2911.

Wishing everyone a smooth, positive, and uplifting semester ahead!

Regards,

The Institutional Compliance and Internal Audit Office
