Congratulations to Matthew Lawson on his move to Florida.
Please share with students:Congratulations to Matthew Lawson who will be leaving Monroe Community College to begin an exciting new chapter as he relocates out of state, to sunny Florida.
Matthews's connection to MCC spans many years and reflects the very best of our institution. As an MCC graduate, he first experienced the transformative power of this college as a student. After earning his degree, he returned to MCC as a Graduate Assistant, demonstrating an early commitment to supporting and empowering students. He later joined the college full-time, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing our First-Year Experience (FYE) and Orientation programs.
Throughout his 13 year tenure, Matthew brought passion, energy, innovation, and a genuine dedication to student success. Under his leadership, FYE and Orientation grew significantly, merging with Admissions, to eventually create a seamless onboarding experience for new students. His vision and commitment helped create welcoming and engaging experiences that eased students' transition to college life and set them on a path toward achievement. Some of Matthews significant achievements include creating and implementing the award winning TRIB411, creating our first online orientation, creating our first FYE recreation program, training and mentoring countless student workers and tour guides, and transforming the student experience at MCC through Weeks of Welcome.
Beyond the growth of these programs, Matthews's greatest impact can be measured in the countless lives he touched along the way. Students consistently found in him a mentor, advocate, and source of encouragement. His ability to connect with others, build meaningful relationships, and foster a sense of belonging has left a lasting impression on our campus community.
His colleagues have equally valued his collaboration, positivity, creativity, and unwavering commitment to MCC's mission. He has been a trusted partner, a dedicated professional, and a friend to many.
While we are saddened to see him leave, we are grateful for his many contributions and proud of all he has accomplished during his time at MCC. Please join us in thanking Matthew for his years of service and in wishing him every success and happiness in this next chapter.
