This week is Trans Week of Activism! Join us for an event!
Please share with students:November 17 - 21st is Trans Week of Activism! A week entirely dedicated to educating the MCC community on transgender issues and LGBTQ+ issues more broadly. The Title IX Office is hosting several events that we would love to see you at.
On November 18th, we are hosting a LGBTQ Resource Fair on the Terrace from 11:30am to 1:00pm, where on- and off-campus resources will be present to share information and offer giveaways. This event is open to students, faculty, and staff. No registration is necessary, pop by!
Also on November 18th, we are hosting a showing of the documentary "Paris is Burning" and an accompanying panel discussion with MCC Professor Dr. Jordan Forrest Miller and community organizer Brittan Hardgers. The film begins at 5:30 pm in Building 8, Room 200. This event is open to the entire MCC community! No registration is necessary!
On the 19th, we are hosting an hour workshop titled “Trans Allyship” in the Empire Room at 12:00pm. This workshop is led by MCC’s Professor Dr. Jordan Forrest Miller. This is open to the entire MCC community, and no registration is required.
Also on the 19th in the Canal Dorm, Title IX is partnering with the Pride Alliance and the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project to host Drag Queen Bingo with Samantha Vega! From 8:30am to 10:30pm! There will be prizes and great fun! No registration is necessary, but this event is specifically for students.
Finally, on November 20th from 12:00pm to 1:30pm in Building 3, Room 115, we are hosting a Trans and Queer Healing Art Space. This will be led by MCC Professor Dr. Jordan Forrest Miller and student DeAndre Vaden. This space is specifically for students. Again, just show up!
