Earning your associate degree shouldn’t be harder than it has to be. SUNY ASAP is designed to help you stay focused, funded, and graduate on time, with less stress and more support. With financial help, one-on-one advising, academic tutoring, and career planning, you’ll have everything you need to move forward with confidence. Thousands of SUNY students are already accelerating their success through the ASAP program. Now it’s your turn at MCC!

What is ASAP?

SUNY ASAP provides students with the support they need to finish their associate degrees on time. The supports include funding to cover textbooks, groceries, transportation, and other costs of attendance. The ASAP program also offers academic assistance, comprehensive personalized advisement, and career development activities. Any student who is eligible for Pell or TAP is eligible for ASAP.

Eligibility Requirements

Any MCC or SUNY student who receives at least $1 of federal Pell grant aid, New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) grant aid, or New York State Excelsior Scholarship aid is likely to be eligible for ASAP. ASAP students should not have more than 21 college credits earned before enrollment.

To participate in and receive ASAP program benefits, you must:

  • Enroll full-time each semester.
  • Maintain good academic standing.
  • Meet regularly with your academic advisor.
  • Attend any recruitment activities.
  • Complete the FAFSA and TAP application each year.
  • Graduate within three years.

To apply for the ASAP program:

  1.  Apply for federal financial aid: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  2.  Apply for state financial aid: Submit the New York State Tuition Assistance Program application.
  3. Contact MCC: Email our ASAP Office at ASAP@monroecc.edu to express interest and learn about our application process.

Note: Students from mixed-status families are now eligible to apply for NYS financial aid without completing the FAFSA at https://www.hesc.ny.gov/altpath. Students may also reach out to ASAP staff to learn more about their options to apply for NYS aid.
