TCC Spring Conversation #1: Faculty Learning Journeys

Back to all events

02/12/2024
12-201 (Brighton Campus) and on Zoom
12:00 pm - 12:50 pm

For the first TCC Conversation of the semester, four faculty members will share their stories about an impactful and significant experience of being a novice learner.

In the spirit of the book The Courage to Learn: Honoring the Complexity of Learning for Students and Educators, which has framed the TCC's programming theme for 2023-24, presenters will speak to the complexity of learning not as an expert in their academic fields, but as a human being encountering the learning process in a different context.

Presenters/storytellers are:

  • Bob Muhlnickel (ENG/PHL), on the subject of training his dog Shannon to be a therapy dog
  • Erin Strobl (BIO), on the process of unlearning and healing
  • Jim Downer (VaPA), on his work with horses
  • Holly Wheeler (ENG/PHL), on recovering from traumatic brain injury

Don't miss this opportunity to connect with colleagues, listen to their stories, and reflect on your own learning journeys too.

This is a hybrid event, so please join us however you can: in person in Room 12-201 at the Brighton Campus or via Zoom. All faculty and staff are welcome!
