Back to all events

04/30/2025
MCC Theater in the Robin and Tim Wentworth Arts Building
07:00 pm - 08:30 pm

Dr. Clint Smith is a staff writer at the Atlantic and the author of How the Word is Passed and of the poetry collection, Counting Descent. How The Word is Passed is a stunning work of reflection and insight that offers a new understanding of how memory and history can play a role in making sense of our country, and how it has come to be.

Through his vital writing and talks, he argues that understanding our history not only enables us to understand our world, but also empowers us to fight for racial justice; he challenges us to reckon with our past “honestly, proactively, and precisely.”
