Did you know that MCC has its very own Theatre Troupe that regularly performs at Rochester's renowned Fringe Festival? MCC's On the Edge Theatre Troupe has collaborated with Rochester Contemporary Art Center for the fifth time to bring an exciting, interactive, free production to local audiences.
ROCitecture is an interactive game designed by Kate Sweeney and Heather Chang that stars ten MCC students. It is based on the outdoor exhibit, Late Capital Pods by Jonathan Monaghan, on display at RoCo, on the side of the building at 137 East Ave. We opened this past weekend to great audiences. There are two more chances to catch the show, play the game, and learn what it takes to build a city.
Synopsis: "Through engaging storytelling and interactive elements, this theatrical experience highlights the interplay between architecture and capitalism, encouraging a deeper understanding of how our built environment shapes societal values and is influenced by economic forces. In this collaboration between RoCo and MCC, game theory dynamics will immerse audiences into collaborative decision making and strategy as they move about an interactive game board that is influenced by Rochester’s architecture."
