Help your students take control of their academic success.

With finals on the horizon, many are feeling the weight of performance pressure. Our next CSTEP/LSAMP Wednesday Forum will address a challenge commonly faced by students: Test anxiety.

This timely session will offer practical, evidence-based tools students can begin using immediately to manage anxiety and approach exams with greater focus and confidence.

  • Forum Topic: Strategies to Reduce Test Anxiety: Lessons from Learning Theory
  • Guest Speaker: Dr. Andrew Knapp, Ph.D. - Professor of Psychology, Monroe Community College
  • Date: Wednesday, May 7, 2025
  • Time: 12:00 PM to 12:50 PM
  • Location: NSEC Room 143, Building 9, MCC Brighton Campus

Dr. Knapp will share research-informed strategies grounded in learning theory, including retrieval practice, time management, cognitive restructuring, and mindfulness. These techniques are designed to help students reduce stress and improve academic performance, especially important as final exams approach.

We encourage you to invite your students to attend. While the forum is designed for CSTEP and LSAMP scholars, all interested students are welcome. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain insight, build resilience, and leave better prepared to thrive under pressure.

The Wednesday Forums are part of a weekly professional development series for students in the CSTEP and LSAMP programs, featuring topics that promote persistence and success in academic and career pathways.

Visit the CSTEP website for more information about our program and our Wednesday Forums schedule.
