_May2021.
It features instrumental students from my band & vocal students
from Dr. Rollo Fisher's groups performing music like the 1924 standard
"Bye, Bye Blackbird" sung by Zazie Weldgen, and she has a
scat solo too (!) plus a B3 organ by Professor Nyerges.
Zazie will also be featured singing an original of hers entitled
“I'm So Sick Of Drowning” and accompanies herself on
guitar. There will be a beautiful version of "Nature Boy"
featuring acoustic lead guitar by Ivanna Soletska and vocals by Anisha
Stallworth. Anisha also contributes her own complete production video of her
original music and lyrics she performs here called
“Forever”.
Joe Percy will sing "Fly Me To The Moon" and play a jazz
solo on guitar and there’s a keyboard video of Professor Nyerges showing
the actual B3 organ solo played on the screen. Sara Whalen & Colin
D'Annunzio are featured on a multiple percussion ensemble piece (premiere) by
Professor John Nyerges entitled "Rhythm Nation". Laura
Galbraith, Sydney Moore and Joe Percy will sing a verse each & team up with
Pedal Steel guitarist Terrell King on "Blue Monk".
Laura turns in her own solo arrangement of CCR's "Lookin' Out My
Backdoor"- vocals and banjo. Laura will also sing Gershwin's
"Summertime" with more soulful guitar soloing by Terrell. Sydney will
sing "Til There Was You" that includes a Flugelhorn solo created by
Professor Nyerges.
Dylan Fenti is featured on keyboards playing "Untitled" that
evolved out of an idea by Anisha and edited by Joe.
Soundtracks were procuded by John Nyerges in his home studio NBRJazz and
then students added their performances with their phones. Mixed, mastered and
then finished in Final Cut Pro.
The Music Area-John Nyerges Dr. Roland Fisher and Dr. David Shaw hope you
enjoy our students' performances and wish you all a great summer.
