MCC Public Safety Dispatchers Answer the Call 24/7
Monroe Community College Public Safety Dispatchers may be the first person
you interact with when contacting Public Safety. The MCC Emergency
Communications Office, housed within the Department of Public Safety, currently
employs 4 full-time and 4 part-time dispatchers. MCC’s dispatchers
come from various backgrounds, but most have some form of first responder
experience and have trained, volunteered or worked with local emergency service
departments such as the county’s ECD-911 Center or local Fire/ EMS
agencies.
The MCC Department of Public Safety as well as the Emergency Communications
Office, are open 365 days a year and staffed 24 hours a day. Working dual
positions as both telecommunicator and dispatcher, call taking consists of
emergency and non-emergency requests for service. No matter the reason,
all calls are accepted at one answering point. All of the dispatchers are
trained in and are responsible for monitoring devices such as the
college’s fire alarm systems, door and panic alarms, RAVE Guardian and
live CCTV.
