Mapathon Wed, April 18 starting at 6 pm (Brighton campus)
Please consider attending the first mapathon hosted by MCC's Mapping Corps
(new club) Wednesday 4/18 from 6-8:30PM in room 11-101 (Brighton
campus). Details below are from the club's Treasurer, Catherine
DuBreck.
For those of you who don't know, our club was formed at the beginning of
this semester and has become the first New York community college chapter of
YouthMappers, an international humanitarian mapping organization. One of the
things we do as a club and as a chapter of YouthMappers is host mapathon
events, basically just a couple hours where students get together in a computer
lab and put features like roads, buildings, etc. on Open Street Map to help put
unmapped areas of the world on a map so that non-governmental organizations can
make sure these areas receive emergency aid/response during disasters.
This event is open to ALL majors and students and is a great way to get
some volunteering experience as a club or as an individual to put on your
resume. Hope to see you there!!
