Black History Month Poetry Contest

On Monday February 7, the Black Student Union and the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project are hosting a Poetry Contest to mark Black History Month. Poems will be performed in-person or via video in the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center Atrium.

  • Poem should be about an African American person in history who influenced you
  • Length should be 3 – 5 minutes
  • No profanity or offensive language

Please submit videos or written poems to BSU Instagram: @Mccb.bsu. All poems must be submitted by noon on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

Prizes for each category (video and in-person):

  • 1st place $250 gift card and poem featured on MCC Blackboard
  • 2nd place $100 gift card
  • 3rd place $75 gift card
