Visiting Fiction Writer: Brian Wood
This week, visiting fiction writer Brian Wood will visit MCC to give a
reading and facilitate a writing workshop. The reading, followed by a book
signing, will take place on Thursday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Warshof
Conference Center, Monroe A. It is free and open to the public. The writing
workshop will take place on Friday, November 15, from 12-12:50 p.m. in 8-200.
This event is free and open to the college community. Both the reading and the
workshop are sponsored by the Creative Arts Committee at MCC.
Brian Wood holds an MFA in Creative Writing from San Jose State University.
He has served as the Managing Editor of Reed Magazine, as well as
Fiction Editor for POST. His work earned him a Ludwig Scholarship for
Excellence in Creative Writing, as well as James Phelan Awards for Short
Fiction and Familiar Essays. Most recently, his story collection Joytime
Killbox was a finalist for the BOA Editions Short Fiction Prize. He also
has ghostwritten five published books.
