Free Admission to the Glass Show This Weekend
Everyone in the MCC Community is able to get free admission to the 2018
Vintage Glass & Collectibles Show & Sale this coming weekend.
The event, sponsored by the non-profit Depression Glass Club of Greater
Rochester, runs from
- 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15
- 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16
This is the only Depression Glass show remaining in Western New York, and
it's a great opportunity for students to learn more about the intersection of
history, art, and commerce.
Each afternoon, there will be an educational program about vintage glass
animal figurines. In addition, the show part of the event, "Nature in Glass,"
will feature displays of vintage glassware in the shape of natural elements,
such as dolphins or flowers, or etched or painted with motifs like birds or
leaves.
The sale itself includes not only Depression-Era glass, but also elegant
glassware, antique china, vintage pottery, linens, silverware, and other small
collectibles. National dealers and local experts will also be on hand to help
identify pieces of vintage glass, so attendees may bring in one or two items
for possible identification.
Admission is $5 for the general public, which covers both Saturday and
Sunday, but everyone in our College community can get in for free this year.
Just let them know you're with MCC when you enter. (Also, guests 18 and younger
are always admitted free.)
The event is being held in the Eisenhart Auditorium of the Rochester Museum
and Science Center, 657 East Ave. The building is handicapped accessible, and
parking is free.
