The New York Dental Hygiene Association Recognizes Sherri Kurtz
Congratuations to Sherri Kurtz for receiving the New York
Dental Hygiene Association (NYDHA) Excellence in Mentoring Award.
This award recognizes a dental hygienist who has advanced the profession of
dental hygiene through outstanding activities as a mentor. Sherri will be
recognized on November 5th at the NYDHA Empire State Conference held in
Rochester.
Sherri Kurtz is a full-time faculty member in the Dental Studies Programs of
the Health Related Professions Department at Monroe Community College. She
received her A.A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene from Monroe Community College, her
B.S. in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of
Dental Hygiene, and her M.A. in Liberal Studies from The College at Brockport.
She is the First – Year Clinical Coordinator and currently teaches Dental
Therapeutics I and II, Dental Health Education, first-year Pre-clinical and
Clinical Dental Hygiene, Dental Hygiene I and II, and Infection Control for the
Dental Hygiene and on-campus Dental Assisting students. She won an Open SUNY
Online Teaching Ambassador award (2018). She is the Student Liaison for the
Rochester Finger Lakes Dental Hygienists’ Association, past
Secretary/Treasurer for the NYS Dental Hygiene Educators’ Association, an
ADHA member, and is a committee member on the NYSUT Healthcare Professionals
Council.
