DWI Awareness Month Event

For many, December can be a month of celebrations, parties and going out for drinks with friends to catch up. For others, it may be a challenging time in which people turn to alcohol and drugs to cope. Whatever the reason is behind indulging this holiday season, it is important to remember the dangers of impaired driving. Historically, December has a higher accident rate than other months on average. For this reason, December has been designated as National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Month. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts not only you, but everyone else around you at risk. However, accidents caused by driving under the influence are absolutely preventable. This year and every year after, we ask that you commit to act responsibly and drive safely.

To help bring attention to this important topic, MCC’s Counseling Center, Disability Services and & Health Services Department has teamed up with STOPDWI New York and MCC Public Safety to provide an informative and interactive event at our Brighton Campus. Come learn more about the dangers of impaired driving by trying out a video game simulator, doing sobriety tests while wearing impairment goggles, and reading stories of people within our own community who lost their lives tragically to drunk or drugged driving accidents. The event will be held on December 5th from 11am to 1pm at our Brighton Campus Terrace.
