Expert on Nazi Camp System on Campus Next Week

MCC's Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project invites you to attend an open lecture by Dr. Geoffrey Megargee, renowned Holocaust historian at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Dr. Megargee is the project director of the Museum's groundbreaking Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos, 1933-1945, a seven-part series that blows apart previous conceptions of the number of Nazi camps throughout occupied Europe, their structure, and their operation and evolution. Since volume 1 was published in 2009, the Encyclopedia has exposed over 40,00 sites of Nazi persecution -- more than eight times the number previously accepted -- and as Dr. Megargee notes, this is a conservative estimate.

Join us for Dr. Megargee's presentation, during which he'll discuss the camp system and its development, political and economic impact on Nazi Germany, impact on prisoners, and effect on the overall war effort.
