Student Day at Optics Manufacturing Conference and
Exhibition
Free admission, activities, and transportation for MCC Students, on
Thursday, October 21, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. See precision optics
manufacturing equipment in action, learn about optical manufacturing, and speak
with over 100 optical fabrication companies at the Optifab Conference
Exhibition at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
Optifab is the largest optical manufacturing conference and
exhibition in North America and it takes place right here in Rochester every
two years! On Thursday, October 21, conference sponsors are offering
students free admission to the Exhibition including a welcome by industry
leaders at 10AM and a free sandwich box lunch from 12-1PM in the exhibit hall.
The University of Rochester Institute of Optics SPIE Student Chapter will also
be hosting demonstrations and “Photon Games” competitions
10:30AM-12:00PM.
College van transportation between the Brighton campus and the
Convention Center will be provided by Optical Systems Technology program staff.
The MCC Optifab van will leave from the front entrance of MCC Building 9 every
30 minutes beginning at 8:30AM, with the last shuttle leaving the convention
center at 3PM to return to campus. Masking is required on the van and at
the conference!
Students who have not already registered through an MCC optics
instructor should use the conference online registration system to create an
account and sign up for the free "Exhibition Only" option at https://spie.org/OFB/registration.
Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure an accurate
lunch count. Although students who register may also attend the
Exhibition for free on Tuesday and Wednesday (10AM-5PM), Thursday, October
21st, is the only day with special programming for students. Upon arrival at
the convention center, students should check in at the SPIE Registration Desk
to pick up their name badge and conference bag. Masking is required at
the conference.
Faculty and staff wishing to attend the Optifab Exhibition October
19-21 should also register online at https://spie.org/OFB/registration
(Exhibition admission for non-students is $50).
