The Bystander Moment at the Downtown Campus!
The Sociology Film Series (SFS), First Year Experience (FYE) and Mentors in
Violence Prevention at MCC (MVP-MCC) present MVP co-founder, Dr. Jackson Katz's
latest documentary, The Bystander Moment: Transforming Rape Culture at its
Roots, as part of MCC's Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) programming
in April. Both the Downtown Campus calendar of SAAM events and a flier for The
Bystander Moment are attached.
"The #MeToo movement has shined much-needed light on the pervasiveness
of sexual harassment and abuse and created unprecedented demand for gender
violence prevention models that actually work. The Bystander Moment tells the
story of one of the most prominent and proven of these models -- the innovative
bystander approach developed by pioneering activist and writer Jackson Katz and
his colleagues." (mediaed.org)
DATE: Wednesday, April 24, 2019
TIME: 2:30pm (view 50-minute film with discussion lead by MVP-MCC Leadership
Team members to follow)
