Spring 2023 Deliberative Dialogue Series: U.S. Foreign Policy & Quality of Life in Monroe County
The Democracy Commitment at MCC will hold two campus-wide deliberative
dialogues this semester, covering American foreign policy and quality of life
in Monroe County. Please see below for dates, times, locations, and
registration information.
Deliberative dialogues are unique opportunities for collaborative
thinking about pressing public issues. Because each dialogue takes the form of
deliberation, attendees drive the conversation in small groups facilitated by
trained moderators. Deliberation is unlike panel discussions or debates. It is
highly participatory, egalitarian, and non-adversarial. The foundation of each
dialogue is an issue guide. These guides offer an opportunity to explore an
issue critically and discuss alternative action steps while keeping our values
at the center of the conversation. If you would like an advance copy of an
issue guide or have questions, please email Joe Scanlon
(jscanlon1@monroecc.edu).
