A New Student Resource!! Introducing the Student Technology Advancement Center- STAC

Ever find yourself overwhelmed by the digital landscape, lost amidst the sea of apps and MCC digital platforms? Fear not! STAC is here to help by guiding you through all MCC’s instructional technology so you can focus on your coursework. 

Just so we’re clear, we're not the tech troubleshooters. Leave the broken computers, failed logins, lost passwords, and software that won’t launch to the experts at the Student Help Desk (292-8324). STAC's mission is to teach you the technology skills that you need to be able complete your coursework without being restricted by not knowing technology platforms. We can also help you with projects and other course work that would benefit from more creative use of technology.

Getting help from STAC is easy. Schedule an appointment online by emailing stac@monroecc.com, or swing by the Brighton campus library on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays, between 9:30am to11am or 2:30 to 4pm. You can just drop in – no appointment needed! We are also in the exploratory phase of adding this service to the downtown campus too. If you can’t meet us in person, we’re happy to set up a Zoom appointment with you at a time that works for you. 

Here's some of what we can offer: 

  • Navigating Microsoft 365 

  • Using OneDrive for file storage and collaboration. 

  • How to get the most out of your myMCC portal 

  • Excelling at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Brightspace assistance (in collaboration with the Virtual Campus team) 

  • Navigating copyright issues related to images and other media 

  • Support for graphic software (e.g., Photoshop) 

  • Support for video software (i.e., iMovie, Premier Pro, Microsoft Clipchamp) 

  • Utilizing AI in an intellectually honest and constructive manner 

And hey, if your tech trouble isn't on the list, shoot us an email – we love a good challenge and we're very willing to help.

Rest assured, STAC's got your back, thanks to support from Title III. We're here to eliminate your educational technology troubles so you can maximize your success at MCC.
