Math Appreciation Month - Week 3: Earth Day

April is Math Appreciation Month and this Thursday is Earth Day. 

Are you interested in learning about how mathematics is being used to help our planet? 

This “Guide to Mathematics” addresses why math is important to science and in particular how the environmental sciences utilize math.  In addition, you will find interesting summaries of the history of mathematics, the different areas of mathematics, as well as the future of mathematics. 

This article reports on seven ways that mathematicians are working towards securing our planet’s future.

In this blog post, the author highlights ways in which educators can incorporate sustainability into their mathematics classes, conferences, and research.
