Opportunity for Students: Global Solutions Conversations (October 2021-November 2021).
STUDENTS: Are you interested in Cultural Exchange and
connecting with students from another country? Are you interested in
discussing Sustainability and making a difference in your
community?
MCC students have the opportunity to participate in a 6
week virtual exchange series starting the first week of
October. Through weekly binational Zoom calls with
representatives from Mutah University's Department of Public Health in Jordan,
MCC participants will discuss global challenges inspired by the
UN Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 UN Sustainable Development
Goals cover a wide range of important topics--including improving access
to safe drinking water, conserving wildlife, taking action to address climate
change, improving access to quality education, and reducing poverty, disease,
and hunger.
Participants will learn about each other’s culture as
they engage in the process of design
thinking and discuss global issues in their community.
Individual teams will brainstorm a community project idea to support increased
sustainability within their local communities.
Upon completion of the program, students will
- recieve a certificate of participation
- become an alumnus of the Department of State and acquire access to
professional development opportunities
- earn badges for skills acquired through this collaborative exchange
to add to their resume or CV
This opportunity is available to MCC students in any academic program.
Individual students or representatives of student clubs can contact Professor
Laura Penman through email
(lpenman@monroecc.edu) by September
17th to express their interest and get more information about this
cross-cultural opportunity!
